Site Takeovers
Grooveshark as an online music service promotes artists of all sizes to demographics most likely to enjoy their music. Running a campaign for deadmau5, MTV's in-house DJ, was one of the most successful artist promotions Grooveshark has ever.
"Grooveshark has been an exciting new partner for Ultra. We worked together on a successful promotion for our last deadmau5 release and the artist dashboard that they provide has given us some great insight into what's reacting with our fans."
—Elliott Walker, Ultra Records
Pusha-T Mixtape
In March 2011, artist Pusha-T released a mixtape ahead of his upcoming new album. Pusha-T promoted this mixtape exclusively on Grooveshark with a site-takeover, giving fans the ability to listen to the mixtape right there, along with links to pre-order the upcoming record.
Pusha-T's mixtape was picked up by Pitchfork, New York Magazine's Vulture, MTV andothers—even being called "the year's hottest mixtape" by Rolling Stone Magazine.
Promoting Emerging Artists
Helping Grooveshark users discover new music they will fall in love with is at the core of our offerings to music fans. This goes hand-in-hand with promoting emerging bands, helping them build a fanbase while providing one destination for music fans to hear upand-coming artists.
One example is Grooveshark's partnership with Indaba, which began in June 2011. Indaba is an online music collaboration site dedicated to helping independent artists produce, promote, and distribute their music. With over 500,000 registered artists, Indaba and Grooveshark worked together to make Breakthrough Radio: a dedicated station on Grooveshark promoting new independent artists—updated every two weeks, to ensure constant promotion to new bands.
"Yes, musicians can submit their music to other streaming/subscription services, like Pandora and MOG (which pulls in music via distributors). But the fact that Grooveshark TMis working with Indaba will likely make this a much more straightforward experience for bands — and will likely bring more bands into the Indaba fold."

Working Directly With Bands
As a legitimate provider of online music, Grooveshark's main focus is combating piracy, creating new and innovative revenue streams for artists in the digital landscape, and, ultimately, furthering bands' careers so they can continue to grow their fanbase—and make a living.
In 2011, Grooveshark began working with Austin, TX band Quiet Company. In coordination with music marketing companies, Grooveshark began working with Quiet Company to promote their upcoming album. With no money changing hands from the artist to the companies, Quiet Company was booked on tours and festivals across the country
"The band is debuting a new single and video this week, and announcing a new album, We Are All Where We Belong, so the time is right for this kind of marketing push. Rocket Science will be helping the band with career intricacies like touring, licensing and promotion, but the band will retain all rights to its music and neither Grooveshark nor Rocket Science will have a monetary stake in the music."

"We had a label for our first record, and this last time that we talked to a label, we realized that we're never going to fit on any label. We just don't have the lifestyle for it. But this is perfect for us. It gives us the things that the label would give us, without all the needless stuff that comes with a label. I don't see the need for one."
—Taylor Muse, lead singer, Quiet Company
