Adding or Deleting Songs from a Playlist

So you’ve got that perfect playlist, but one of the songs got old a bit faster than you thought. In Grooveshark, you can Overwrite any playlist you’ve made, making it easy to add or delete songs from a playlist you’ve already made and save those changes.
Here’s how:
1. Drag the playlist you want to edit into your queue.
2. Find the songs you want to add. (Note: if you just want to delete a song, simply drag that song out of the queue.)
3. Click the disk icon to save your playlist (it’s in the bottom right-hand corner). Then click “Overwrite Existing”.
4. Choose a playlist to overwrite from the list, and click “Replace Playlist”.
5. You’re done! If you go to Home–>My Music–>Playlists–>My Playlists, you can see the updated playlist right there waiting for you. Cool!

Just want to say I love this station I was just looking on the website and found this station. Its the best and the sound is really awesome not like You Tube the sound is not good at all.
I have a question how do I go in and set my playlists to play and any songs I don’t want to hear be able to skip.

This is a great site! I was a little over enthusiastic using it.
I have a play list that is over 200 songs long. I don’t want to lose the 2nd part of the play list. Is there a way to save it? The directions you gave only discuss removing a song from the queue, but I can’t get the second part of the list to the queue to edit it.

I don’t know why you think that way of deleting songs from a playlist is easy. What a hassle. Can’t you just add a delete/remove option in the playlist itself?
Also, is there a way to integrate grooveshark into Firefox so that I don’t have to have a tab open to use it?

When it comes to deleting songs, I’m with Peter O’Connor. I get the whole drag it out thing but I want it off my play list. Someone didn’t think this portion through, which happens and that’s cool, but you should fix it. Maybe a right click and a remove song from playlist. Done and done.

Is there way to add songs in bulk to a play list? There are a lot of bands and artists that I would like to add entire albums to. Or is one song at a time the only way?

i’ve tried many times to delete songs from my playlist. i’ve dragged out of the playlist as well as hit the “trash” icon. then i save (overwriting existing playlist)… but the songs are still there.
is this a google chrome bug? it’s annoying.

I seem to be having an issue with adding songs to a playlist. What I do is :
1) Load playlist
2) Queue new song
3) Save playlist (overwrite existing)
4) Reload grooveshark
5) Load playlist
–> the new song isn’t there. Am I doing something wrong (and if so, what? ;-) )

Great site.
The Playlist section does not seem to work very well though. I can’t add a single song to a playlist as the option “Overwrite Existing” never appears. The only option i ever receive when i hit Save, is “Create New” or “Cancel”
So even if i drag a new song (or many) to a playlist, i am not able to update that playlist, only create a new one (with the new songs).
Perhaps this is because i’m using an older version of IE (v. 6.0)

The site is not recognizing the playlists I create. Each time I try to add a song to a playlist, it says I don’t have any playlists - not true. Same when I try to revise a playlist. I add to queue and then when I go to overwrite existing playlist, I can’t. Only save as new. Help.

Hi. I love ur site. And, the faq section is really explainitory and nice. But, the problem is that the “overwrite existing playllist” button that you mentioned here does not appear for me. The only two buttons that show-up every time i want to save a playlist is “save as a new playlist” and “cancel”.
So, i am just pisting to say i think there is some kind of site-design error going on. Don’t misunderstand me though, i love the site. But, i just hope this problem can be solved. Thanks.

These instructions work when I don’t want to hear it in the que. But everytime I put a playlist in the que that same song I drug out of the que the last time keeps popping up. How do I remove it from the playlist?

I can create a playlist such that when I view the info on the playlist the songs show up, BUT, when I drag the playlist into the queue OR select “Listen to Playlist” from the playlist info pane, only the first song shows up. What gives? Changes to the playlist don’t seem to improve it either.. still only plays the first song.
If I need to add a song one by one to the queue everytime, what’s the point of having a playlist? I would add audio/narrative to the help videos.. may help.

Even when you do this, the deleted songs still show up when you play the playlist (or the added songs don’t show up). The playlist info says that the changes have been made but the changes aren’t reflected in the queue. I already sent a question about it but I figured it wouldn’t hurt to mention it here as well.

will it be possible to add a song to a playlist via the “add to playlist” link that shows up when you go to the song “info”? right now that link doesn’t seem to actually add the song to the playlist unless you’re creating a new playlist. It’s a bit of a pain to have to queue the entire playlist and add a song to it and then overwrite the playlist each time one wants to add a song.

Amazing site (way better than Pandora!), but I have a problem… my playlist won’t update! And if I try to play the whole thing, it always stops after the same song. Every single time!

Hey, I’m back, tell me how to organize my playlists. I want to take a song out of one and put it in another. I’ve moved it into the queue, but it still remains in the old playlist. Rather than delete a whole playlist, I just want to delete one song.
I also have doubles in a playlist, how do you get rid of the double. I think I am a bit confused and this question sounds confusing. Any takers??????????

i have a solution 4 too many duplicate songs,its limited but it works.1st choose the playlist u want to edit then choose ‘artist’ that way u only get 1 of every song then add all into a queue, then save the queue, choose overwrite existing if u want to get rid of ur old list with the duplicate songs in. dont forget that u can only hav 200 songs in a queue so if u hav more than 200 songs in ur playlist (not counting duplicates) u may hav 2 make a few playlist so dont overwrite it staight away

Hey guys…I think I figured out a way to fix the confusion. The whole adding the playlist to a queue is essentially you saving the playlist you want to have without the songs you are trying to delete. For example, say I have a playlist with songs A, B, C, and D but I want to get rid of song B. What you do is add songs A, C, and D to the queue (leaving out song B) and click the floppy disk to save. Then when it asks to either save as new or overwrite existing, click overwrite existing, save it to whatever name you want the new playlist to be called and hit save. You are essentially overwriting the playlist that had songs on it you were trying to delete. Then go back and delete the queue you just made by clicking on the trash can. Re-open your playlist and it should be there the way you want it. That’s how I did it. I know its a bit cumbersome but that’s what I had t do to get rid of the songs I didn’t want. Hope this helps!

The easiest way to remove a song from a playlist is to select the playlist tab –> click on the “i” symbol (Get Info) –> then hover over the song and click the “X” symbol to delete the song from a playlist. MUCH faster than deleting or updating an entire playlist as the Help section describes.
