Grooveshark

We’ll be donning our hard-hats and making some updates to some (pretty important) parts of the Grooveshark Torture Apparatus database tonight between 11 PM and 6 AM. After the updates, you should see improvements to load times while navigating through Grooveshark–which is good. During 11 and 6, however, we’ll have to take streaming offline, so songs won’t be available for listening–which is bad.

We’re working as hard as we can to get everything on Grooveshark speedy, stable, and stupendously useful, but if you ever have any requests or notice something isn’t working for you, please please please let us know.

So last week we made some updates to Sharkbyte with the intention of allowing users to cache their songs for constant availability–and it worked! (Mostly.)

Unfortunately, the caching server can only handle so many connections at once, so sometimes it will attempt to pull some songs and realize that the bandwidth just isn’t there. Consequently, you may see a bunch of “Failed” uploads in the Upload tab of Sharkbyte. Here’s what it looks like:

Fear not! It will try again later, and hopefully successfully. The songs will eventually make there way over to Grooveshark Lite for even handier access.
