With the Olympics starting this past weekend, I asked myself, what was the number one song in America at the start of each of the Summer Olympics over the past 50+ years?

Prior to my 12th birthday, the only music I actually owned was four cassette tapes: Ace of Base (which I bought with my very own money at age 10), Steven Curtis Chapman and Michael W. Smith (Christmas presents from my uncle), and the soundtrack to Aladdin.

I wasn’t one of those people who waited to see the new Batman movie, Dark Night, at midnight or 2 a.m. or even 6 a.m. as some news reported. I definitely respect those people, but I think I was already asleep by 1 am.

However, I do plan on seeing the Batman movie as soon as I can. It’s pretty exciting, I have to say I’ve never been a fan of Batman (except for the ’60s show that I grew up watching), but this one seems chaotic and disturbing. Exactly my cup of tea.

It was announced today that one of Jimi Hendrix’s guitars that he set on fire in 1967 at London’s Finsbury Astoria will be auctioned off by the Fame Bureau in London on September 4th. It is projected that it is worth and will go for about a million dollars. The guitar that was once thought to be lost, is a 965 Fender Stratocaste, and the fire sent Hendrix to the hospital with minor burns to his hands.

I AM the NAVIGATOR! (Memorable Moments)

by Beth Condra July 11th, 2008

I always try and tell people about that movie where a young boy somehow gets picked up by an alien ship and thinks he is only gone for a few weeks. The alien is kind of robotic being (named Max) that is fused with the ship. There were also little creatures aboard the ship that would annoy and comfort the boy.

Anyways, once he is dumped back on earth, he finds that almost ten years has gone by, but he hasn’t changed a bit. Even his younger brother, is now, well, older than him. I loved this movie and of course, no one ever knows what Beth is blabbing about.

Well, my friends, I have done some research and found that the movie is called Flight of the Navigator. Now, does that sound familiar to anyone? After watching a few clips online and reminiscing, I found that Sarah Jessica Parker was in the movie, too! I thought this was great, since I was also planning to write about Hocus Pocus, a great made for T.V. movie that ended up being a big hit in the kid world.

What can I say, I’m just a Nickelodeon kid. I’ve written on here before of how programming on the Disney Channel and Nickelodeon rocked, and I’ll keep saying it again and again.
