Find The “Best” Albums Ever on besteveralbums.com (not surprisingly)

Jack DeYoung May 14th, 2008

I was perusing the internet today and came across an interesting website that uses a complex system of critical opinion and user submissions to determine the “best ever albums”. While they may not be fond of proper grammar, they sure do love British music. According to besteveralbums.com, 8 of the 10 best albums of all time were created by bands from across the pond. Even more curious is that Radiohead’s OK Computer bested The Beatles’ Revolver for the top spot and Oasis managed to crack the Top 50.

A couple of things I couldn’t help but notice when reviewing my fellow music fans’ taste:

—-The Stone Roses HAVE to be members of this site. There is no other explanation for why their self titled album is higher than Blonde on Blonde. I’m envisioning them hunched over their computer in the small hours of the night as they painstakingly create fake username after fake username.

—-Captain Beefheart is #55. The Strokes and The Red Hot Chili Peppers help to round out the Top 60. Sticky Fingers by The Rolling Stones is #77. There is no justice on besteveralbums.com

—–When I first logged in I was greeted with advertisements for “rock and roll albums, jazz albums, and WHITESNAKE albums”. I couldn’t believe it, and then immediately placed Slip of The Tongue in my top 50.

My favorite album was #29. What was yours?
