Guns N Roses Finish Chinese Democracy, Prepare Reality Show

Jack DeYoung April 10th, 2008

While the studio executives in the Dr. Pepper office kick themselves repeatedly as pigs fly lazily by their window, Guns n Roses have finally finished their long awaited Chinese Democracy album. The band has reportedly turned the album over to Geffen Records and are currently attempting to come to terms on several money issues before the album release. One of the most expensive albums of all time, Chinese Democracy has reportedly cost in excess of $13 million.

GnR hasn’t released an album since 1991’s Use Your Illusion I and II. Chinese Democracy reportedly features guest spots by Dave Navarro, Brian May, and even a rapping cameo by Shaquille O’Neal(here’s to hoping Axl has seen the light on this one).

The band’s tenure in the studio recording the album may also be the subject of a reality tv show. While the word’s “reality” and “Axl Rose” seem like a bit of an oxymoron, several media outlets are reporting that the show will take place on a “major music-orientated television channel”. The show would draw from years of footage of the band toiling away in the studio and would culminate with the completion of the album.

If you’re not convinced that Chinese Democracy will mark the triumphant return of a once great band, take heed of this quote by Sebastian Bach. “It’s a very cool album - it’s badass with killer screams, killer guitar riffs, but it’s got a totally modern sound. The word for it is ‘grand.’ It’s fucking epic. He’s reinvented himself yet again.”

If you can’t believe Sebastian Bach, who can you believe?
