This is not a typo- George Michael did in fact announce Monday his plan to tour the U.S. and Canada after a 17-year break. Has absence made the heart grow fonder, or is this just rediculous?
The summer tour kicks off June 17 in San Diego and wraps up Aug. 3 in Sunrise, Fla. Tickets go on sale April 6. This continuation of his European 25 Live tour, which kicked off September 2006 and included 80 shows, includes 22 stops throughout the U.S. and Canada.
This tour will be promoting his new album, Twenty-Five, which is already popular in the UK and drops in the states April 1. It will include a mixture of old hits, along with six new songs, and will feature duets with Paul McCartney and Mary J. Blige.
Michael has found himself in the middle of scandal in the past decade. One of his more infamous reasons being in the spotlight was the 1998 Beverly Hills bathroom incident in which he performed a “lewd act” in front of an undercover police officer. Ten years later, he recently told USA Today he still is too embarrassed to go out in LA.
A successful comeback tour may be the perfect cure, and it may be a good way for people to see him as the performer he was decades ago; back in the days of Wham! and “Faith.” You know, the good ol’ days.

Apparently George Michael has some super sweet VIP package for people too. I know this solely because someone sent me the longest email describing it.
