As we are in the Thanksgiving spirit here at Grooveshark, we are naturally thankful for all of the technology that makes being with our families and traveling to see them so enjoyable this holiday season.
That being said, the collection of gadgets listed below should already be in your arsenal or need to be added to your shopping list before you head off to your Thanksgiving vacation:
There’s nothing worse than unpacking your bag and realizing your won’t have your cell-phone, especially if you have relatives like mine. So, I’ve learned my lesson, and now always travel with this little gadget that allows me to charge all of my devices, cell phone, iPod, blackberry, iPhone …you get the point, all by swapping out the charging tip.
Sitting in the airport after a delayed flight is probably one of the worst situations in the world, and to add insult to injury, if you didn’t heed my advice on the charger, you’re probably looking at your iPod’s battery level in dread. Luckily, iGo has created a portable, rechargeable battery that you can hook up to your iPod, as well as anything else you have an included ‘tip’ for and make those 5 hours go by like nothing :P
Bose® QuietComfort® 2 Acoustic Noise Cancelling® Headphones $299
If you’re lucky enough to be on a flight where you don’t end up reliving the Battle of the Bulge, you probably have either 1) a small child or 2) a loudmouth who “just can’t fall asleep” — Bose noise cancelling headphones to the rescue ! I personally thought the “noise-cancelling” phrase was all marketing bull, but after using these, I’m hooked. They block out all noise, and give you the surreal feeling of actually being at peace on an airplane, fancy that?
I personally have owned an iPod Nano (previous generation), iPod Shuffle (new and old), iPhone, and now an iPod Classic. And based on my listening and usage habits, I just can’t stand it when I don’t have enough space for my music and podcasts. At any given time, I have about 70 podcasts on my iPod for my on-demand listening, and using an iPhone just doesn’t cut it, as it makes me choose, and I hate to choose. So bar-none, the iPod Classic is a necessity for any extending traveling, especially if you aren’t going to have access to a computer to re-up your catalog while you’re away.
If you didn’t capitalize on the past Grooveshark Feeding Frenzy when we offered 29 cent DRM-free downloads, then you’re pretty much SOL. No, I’m joking, we’ll have more Feeding Frenzies, but to ensure you are notified to the next feeding frenzy, sign-up for a free account. Personally I don’t see why you’d shop anywhere else for music, but if you do, at least take advantage of Grooveshark’s personal radio which allows you to stream any song, from any artist, for the whole song — heck, you could discover some new music while you’re at it !
For all of these purchases, be sure to use PriceProtectr, which allows you to get a refund if any products you purchase get a price reduction.
