NIN

Following in the footsteps of Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails lead singer Trent Reznor announced that Nine Inch Nails is no longer contracted with a record company.

As of today, Reznor said NIN are free agents. He posted this statement on their official website:

“I’ve waited a LONG time to be able to make the following announcement: as of right now Nine Inch Nails is a totally free agent, free of any recording contract with any label.”

“I have been under recording contracts for 18 years and have watched the business radically mutate from one thing to something inherently very different and it gives me great pleasure to be able to finally have a direct relationship with the audience as I see fit and appropriate.”

Most Likely, NIN’s next record will go straight to the public, just as Radiohead recently did with their new album, In Rainbows.

Reznor stated that he will soon post another announcement with news about NIN’s future plans for 2008.

Looks like music artists are finally getting the picture. The music industry better shape up and start allowing artist expression - or they will soon find themselves losing some big bands.
