Ever heard the phrase don’t count your chickens before they’re hatched? Well apparently 50 Cent has not, as he may be regretting the infamous bet he made. According to early album sales, Kanye West has sold 437,000 to 50’s 310,000.
From the source, “I don’t think it’s helped 50 that so many of these prerelease singles that have come out have fizzled on the charts right away,” said Jonathan Cohen, Billboard’s senior editor. “There were street date changes. It has just not been a good run-up to this record for him.”
I guess 50’s prerelease singles are no match for Kanye’s VMA temper tantrum, yes I said temper tantrum. Apparently Kanye’s whining to the press about not winning any VMAs may have actually helped to fuel the fire behind his album sales. But the battle is not over yet. There are still five days left until the final tally, so if you’re a 50 Cent fan you better hop to it!
Personally, I think this whole bet situation is a little ridiculous. I mean, can you blame 50 Cent for thinking he could outsell someone that throws a tantrum when he doesn’t win an award? No. But claiming he will retire if this happens? Not only do I not buy that he would actually do that, I think he’s pompous for thinking the music industry would be that devastated without him.

Courtey,
It’s “don’t count your chickens until they hatch.” Trust me. I’m from the country.

[…] So it turns out, I was right. In an update on the blog I wrote yesterday, it seems that regardless of Kanye’s music sales, 50 Cent won’t be quitting. In fact, he has already recorded his follow up album, set to be called Before I Self Destruct. I know, I laughed at the irony of the title too. […]
